Open Symptom Framework

The Open Symptom Framework (OSF) is a public-domain tool designed to assess symptoms related to cancer and its treatment. It aims to encourage remote PRO assessment during cancer therapy, facilitate research to optimise the use of patient-reported outcome measures (PROMs) in oncology practice, and improve patient outcomes by enhancing collaboration between cancer patients and clinical teams.

The OSF collaborators envision a future where all cancer patients have the opportunity to use remote monitoring technologies to collaborate with their clinical teams, ensuring appropriate and responsive care for managing cancer symptoms and treatment-related toxicities.

The Open Symptom Framework measures are available under a Creative Commons CC-BY-SA license, which allows free use, modification, and distribution with proper attribution. Due to the technical nature of PROM development, the OSF collaborators will not automatically endorse modifications or extensions of the OSF. However, we will regularly review efforts to improve or expand the OSF and maintain a list of endorsed versions on this website.

Interested collaborators can access the materials needed to administer the OSF items by contacting the OSF collaborators. The team is happy to support collaboration by reviewing protocols and providing guidance where requested, ensuring that collaborative efforts meet modern scientific standards of psychometric assessment.
